In 2002, Pacific Scientific EKD acquired the electrical surge arresters product line from its sister company, Joslyn Electronic Systems. The arrester products include aircraft antenna lightning arresters and surge arresters serving both specialty and military markets.

Pacific Scientific EKD antenna arresters provide protection from lightning strikes to HF antennas, couplers and associated communications equipment for most commercial and military aircraft, including Air Force One (since 1954).

In April 2008, Pacific Scientific EK discontinued manufacture of most aircraft antenna lightning arresters containing blocking capacitors. However, repair services continue to be offered.

Pacific Scientific EKD is a major supplier of:

• Surge protection devices used on mission-critical land and airborne power systems and mobile battlefield communication shelters
• Heavy duty surge arresters for land based LF-HF antenna and tuning units, neutral-to-earth isolation in power protection schemes and for isolated ground zones and pipe sections
